Public consultation extended!
Kirklees Metropolitan Council (KMC) has extended the time for local people to have a say on its draft Local Plan.
You now have until 5pm on Monday 1 February 2016 to take part in the public consultation.
Draft Local Plan
The draft Local Plan sets out how Kirklees will develop, create jobs and build new homes over the next 20 years.
It's great news that KMC has recognised the potential of Farnley Country Park, for health, leisure, education and conservation, by designating the area 'Strategic Green Infrastructure'.
But we do need land on Penistone Road to provide a gateway - with parking, facilities, an education centre and rural businesses. We also need land within the boundary of the Park to be allocated for housing, in order to fund the creation and ongoing maintenance of the Park.
At the moment this has not been included in the local plan, so we have no way of making Farnley Country Park happen.
Make it happen
If you would like Farnley Country Park to go ahead so that local people can benefit from greater access to the land, then please have your say in the public consultation. There are three ways that you can get involved:
Register and complete the consultation form on the Kirklees Council website: http://consult.kirklees.gov.uk/portal
Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org
Write to Planning Policy Group, Market Street, PO Box B93, Civic Centre 3, Huddersfield, HD1 2JR
You have until 5pm on Monday 1 February 2016 to have make your voice heard.
