Happy Horse Riders

Off-road horse rides off to a flying start

Thank you to everyone who took part in the first Farnley Estates off-road horse ride of 2014 on Saturday 26 April.

Despite early morning rain, the weather soon cleared and it was a bright start for the first ride of the season.

From the comments we received, you really enjoyed the day and especially the new jumps. Well done to those of you who tried the ditch!

Unfortunately traffic issues, due to accidents on Penistone Road and Wakefiled Road forced some of you to abandon the day. However there isn't long to wait until the next ride, which takes place on Saturday 31 May – the Bank Holiday weekend.

And if you can't wait that long, there's a charity ride on Sunday 18 May. We're supporting the British Horse Riding Society by hosting a charity off-road horse ride event. All proceeds will go to the Equine Grass Sickness Fund.

By the way, if the rides are ever cancelled due to unforseen circumstances or bad weather, we'll post it on our website, Facebook and twitter accounts.

Happy, and safe, riding.
