The village

The village of Farnley Tyas can be found approximately 4 miles from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Approximately 4 miles to the south east is the village of Holmfirth, famed as the setting for the BBC’s long running sitcom, Last of the Summer Wine.

There are around 130 properties in the village, which has a population of 300. As with many traditional settlements, the village is centred on St Lucius Church, Farnley Tyas C of E (C) First School, which takes children from the ages of 5 to 10 years, and the Golden Cock pub.

Community involvement

There’s a real community spirit within Farnley Tyas. The Farnley Tyas Community Group was set up to promote appreciation of the village and encourage community involvement. You can find out more about FTCG at
