Farnley Ride: Horse riding on the Estate

It is very rare that horse riders get the opportunity to explore acres of open grassland, arable and woodland. However, riders will soon get the chance thanks to some hard work undertaken by Sarah Sawyer and the Estate. Sarah has recently joined us at Farnley House and a key element of her role will be as part of the Estate management team.

The new Farnley Ride course will officially open in August, but riders will be able sample the course on Saturday 2nd July.

The course has been specially developed with a comprehensive riding experience in mind. With very limited riding (without some road hacking being required) within the area, the Estate’s routes will offer a number of miles available to riders.

Great attention has been made to the course and as a result there are only two crossings of country roads and a very limited length of hacking on an unclassified highway.

Riders will be able to pay on a per-day or annual membership basis.

Annual membership of the Farnley Ride will be available for £90/year for adults and £45/year for under 16’s. (Each additional family member will be charged at £50/year). Alternatively, riders can come and use the course for a full day for only £10/rider.  A percentage of profits will be given to the charity ‘Riding For The Disabled’.

The Course is ideal for a number of users such as Pony Clubs to use for coaching days, advanced endurance riding groups, as well as sponsored and charity rides. Discounts can be arranged for group bookings.

It is also the intention of the Estate to run a number of special days for the disabled and young people which will be heavily subsided and in some cases free.
